As of last week, groups from our church have assembled more than 2,600 lunch bags and cooked or served more than 1,200 hot meals.
Thank You for Supporting Roof Above
On July 7, Roof Above had a major setback when storm damage caused the roof of “The Hub” to cave in. This is the main building at their Day Services Center, where hundreds of our neighbors gather daily for meals, showers and laundry, social work case management, and community.
Within hours of the news, our church reached out to ask how we could support both Roof Above and our neighbors as they navigated moving their work into their other building on site.
We invited small groups, Bible studies, friend groups, and more to sponsor and assemble lunch bags to help nourish our neighbors as the daily hot meals were cut back from five days a week to two. As of last week, we’ve assembled more than 2,600 lunch bags (more than 4,200 sandwiches) and cooked or served more than 1,200 hot meals.
In addition to the bagged lunches and hot meals, we provided $20,000 in immediate funds from the Wesley Foundation to help with the infrastructure improvements needed to safely transition these critical services into their other building on campus.
Thank you for volunteering, for sponsoring a meal, for cooking food, and most importantly for praying for our friends at Roof Above! Your generosity to the Mission & Outreach Fund makes this work possible!
