Two things I’d share with you today, the fifth day of Christmas, the 62nd anniversary of my own baptism (long story…), the fourth day of Kwanzaa (which I come to appreciate more year by year) – a lot going on!
First, thinking year-end (or year-long, life-long!) giving. These emails are free for you, as is our worship in person or online, our studies, our music – everything. I love that we don’t sell tickets or memberships, although all we provide is of immense value, way more crucial for life and hope than belonging to a club or having season tickets to football or the symphony, or your alumni association… on and on. What we offer you is free, like God’s grace – and always will be.
But we have costs, and lots of them – and even more importantly, we are on a mission to transform lives among you and others who are here or online with us, and in our city and outward into the world. Your contributions – your gifts – your offerings back to God of what God has entrusted to you – make a world of difference. I can’t think of a better investment vehicle for your resources than God’s work in the world through our church.
So as we’re at the tail end of the year, completing our commitments to do God’s work, jump in right now by giving online, or mailing us a check (1501 Queens Rd., Charlotte NC 28207). Dig deep – which is where God is, and where growth in your spirituality will happen.
ALSO: A Real Relationship with God will be my theme/topic during the early days of 2026. We’ll look at how to read the Bible – not how to watch me talk about the Bible, or read a neat book about the Bible, but how to dig in yourself more fruitfully! – and how to pray – and not just how to get God to do stuff you ask, but so that it becomes a vital relationship.
