College Mexico Mission

May 24-30, 2020

Myers Park UMC enjoys a close relationship with Faith Ministry in Reynosa, Mexico and yearly takes a team of college students there to serve. Over our mission week the team builds lifelong friendships, as well as, serves alongside Faith Ministry’s workers.

2020 trip details: Trip Cost is $750 and included accommodations, most meals and group round-trip airfare from Charlotte.  Pay your $350 Non-Refundable Deposit at registration and $400 Balance due March 12.

Three STEPS TO OFFICIALLY REGISTER: submit Payment Online, PLUS, complete the Online Registration Form, and send a clear, color photo of your passport to Nancy Holmes at nholmes@mpumc.org in the Missions office.

Special note regarding payments: there are NO REFUNDS.  If, for some reason, the trip is cancelled or you can no longer go, the funds can be used towards a future Myers Park UMC mission trip by you (or your immediate family member) within twelve months of the original trip OR used by Faith Ministry for it’s ministry work in Mexico.

On our Mexico mission trip, Spanish is not required because the Holy Spirit connects you on a deeper level and we have trusty translators, too. We’ll worship with our Mexican neighbors, and experience firsthand the knowledge that we are truly brothers and sisters in Christ.

“There is no way to better epitomize what it means to ‘Love one another’ than to go serve in Reynosa with Faith Ministry. I personally feel called to serve in Reynosa because it is the opportunity to live out what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ.  It is on this trip that I realized that God is working through us all, giving us an opportunity to build one family a place to sleep at night. It would be so easy to just write a check to Faith Ministry, but there is a reason that we go to serve. Despite having so little, our brothers and sisters in Reynosa love so well, and it is through them that I learned that this trip is so much more than cinder blocks and concrete burns. This trip is about making a difference through love and learning that each individual has a home with God. I believe God is calling us all to put ourselves out of our comfort zones to live out His word, and I cannot think of a better way to do so than to go to go serve in Reynosa with Faith Ministry.”  Callie Bernard

The physical part of the week is building a home for a family, we will also explore their medical clinic, nutrition program, and learn how they provide school scholarships.
