God + Children = Joy

The greatest gift we can give children is to give them God. My God-given gift is teaching, especially children. Teaching all ages gives me joy and a place to serve God. For more than 20 years, I taught Pre-K at a United Methodist Church. Being at Myers Park UMC has given me many opportunities to teach in many venues.

I received a great compliment from a preschooler. The little boy had asked his mother, “How do sharks sleep? Are their eyes open?” Before his mother could answer, he said, “That’s okay. I’ll ask Miss Sandy. She’ll know because she’s almost as smart as Jesus.” Every day in preschool, we prayed and it was okay to talk about Jesus. The birth of Jesus was our main topic at Christmas, not what the children wanted as gifts. My own grandson asked me, “Gran, why do you love God so much?” Children learn about God and Jesus by our actions along with words. Sometimes words are not even needed.

My faith increases as I share God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Your faith may, too. You will be blessed volunteering in Children’s Ministries. What are you waiting for? Volunteer!
