Join people all across Charlotte who are discussing Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the american City by Matthew Desmond. Dr. Howell and Minister of Missions Nathan Arledge will lead a discussion about this enormously important book about the changing face of the city and people in poverty we’re called to reach at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, in Room 108 of the Parish Life Building. Affordable housing, a pressing issue in Charlotte, is a plank in our Step, Jump, Leap church initiative. The book will be for sale in the Goodness Gracious! gift shop. You don’t have to read it to come to the progr am. The book follows eight f amilies in Milwaukee as they struggle to keep a roof over their heads. It ex amines issues of poverty and economic exploitation while sharing fresh ideas to deal with the crisis. Matthew Desmond, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author, will give a free lecture at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, at McGlohon Theatre at Spirit Square.
